Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements, however all students must:

  • Be 18 years or over
  • Have the physical capacity to work as an Individual support worker
  • Pass a National Police Clearance
  • Posses Literacy, Language and Numeracy Skills at ACFS level 3,

The students enrolled in CHC52015 Diploma of Community Services are required to complete 16 units of competency as listed below:

  • CHCMGT005 Facilitate workplace debriefing and support processes
  • CHCCCS007 Develop and implement service programs
  • CHCDIV003 Manage and promote diversity

  • CHCCSL001 Establish and confirm the counselling relationship

Delivery Methods

We primarily offer two delivery modes for the qualification.

Face to Face Delivery:

Delivery will be face to face in the classroom combined with120 hours of work placement

Duration

The duration of this course is 1800 hours delivered over 74 weeks (60 weeks delivery and work placement plus 14 weeks’ holidays). This will consist of 55 weeks (20 hours per week) of classroom delivery, plus 5 weeks of work placement at 20 hours per week.

1100 hours are allocated to face-to-face classroom sessions.

600 hours of the course are allocated to projects, private study and assessment work

100 hours are allocated to work placement

WHAT IS RPL?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an evaluation path to acquire a qualification relevant to your knowledge, skills and experience. Candidates having the required experience, skills and supporting evidences are more likely to be eligible for Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) and gain a certification accordingly.
